Join the most exciting party of the season as the eagerly awaited revival of Cole Porter's High Society comes to the Barbican Theatre this spring.
Returning for the first time in over a decade, this golden-age musical theatre production is ready to dazzle with its satirical musical numbers about the romantic misadventures of a socialite. It features an all-star cast and is not to be missed.
Don't miss High Society's strictly limited run at the Barbican from May, starring Felicity Kendal and Helen George.
What is High Society about?
Follow Long Island socialite Tracy Lord as she plans her lavish wedding, set to be the must-attend summer party of the year. However, her ex-husband Dexter Haven reappears and attempts to win her back, threatening to disrupt her plans.
The paparazzi arrive, adding to the chaos with one journalist finding himself unexpectedly drawn to Tracy.
What follows is a series of mistaken identities, hide-and-seek at the pre-wedding ball and skinny-dipping in the pool, further complicating matters and leaving Tracy to ponder which man she should marry.
Why you should see High Society at The Barbican
The musical High Society is a revival of the 1956 film adaptation of the musical of the same name, which was itself a remake of the film The Philadelphia Story starring Grace Kelly, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra.
The 2026 revival of High Society is part of the Barbican's summer programme, which has enjoyed successful runs of Anything Goes, Kiss Me, Kate, and Good Night, Oscar in recent years.
High Society brings to the stage a satirical romance and golden-age Hollywood musical glamour. Set to the music and lyrics of Cole Porter, who won the first-ever Tony Award for Best Musical in 1949 with Kiss Me, Kate, the musical features much-loved songs including 'True Love', 'You're Sensational', 'Well, Did You Evah!' and 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'. The unforgettable music, sparkle and laughter make for an irresistible revival.
Who is in the cast of High Society?
The new lavish production of High Society features a cast of 28, led by Call the Midwife star Helen George (who also starred in The King and I) as Tracy Lord and Felicity Kendal (Rosemary and Thyme, Anything Goes) in the role of Mother Lord.
This spectacular revival is brought to life by a multi-award-winning creative team including Rachel Kavanaugh and choreographer Anthony Van Laast.
