What is Oliver! The Musical about?
Follow the journey of Oliver Twist, a young and starving orphan who dares to ask for more gruel, only to be cast out of the workhouse and sold to greedy undertakers. Escaping their clutches, Oliver ventures into London, where he encounters the Artful Dodger and a ragtag group of petty thieves living under the roof of Fagin, the leader of a pickpocket gang roaming the streets. On his first outing, Oliver is unjustly arrested but soon finds himself taken under the wing of the kind-hearted Mr Brownlow, where he discovers the true meaning of family.
The popular Dickens story is one of the most beloved British musicals, bringing its colourful characters to life through a sensational score that features timeless favourites like “Food, Glorious Food”, “Consider Yourself” “You’ve Got to Pick-a-Pocket or Two”, “I’d Do Anything”, “Oom Pah Pah”, “As Long As He Needs Me,” and many more.
After a sold-out summer preview at the Chichester Festival Theatre, Oliver! The Musical makes its highly anticipated return to London’s West End this December 2024.
Oliver! – a historic success
The musical, inspired by Charles Dickens' 1838 novel Oliver Twist, is a favourite of British theatre and has seen many revivals, each meeting wide applause. The original production premiered in 1960 at the Wimbledon Theatre before making its West End debut, where it achieved roaring success with a total of 2,618 performances, becoming one of the longest-running musicals in British theatre history.

The show was met again with huge acclaim, with Rowan Atkinson taking the stage as Fagin and Jodie Prenger as Nancy, earning a nomination for three Olivier Awards.
