What to expect at the Christmas at Kenwood lights trail?

Kenwood House, a historic mansion located within Hampstead Heath, is lit up with Christmas lights.

The 2024 program for Christmas at Kenwood is not yet confirmed, but here is what visitors got up to in Hampstead Heath during the festive season last year.

Expect to see the traditional mansion under a festive spell this season with a blend of colour and sparkle fit for a perfect picture moment. There is never a dull moment at Kenwood House as surprises find you at every corner with a selection of festive food and warm drinks keeping you toasty.

Expect a feast for the senses as you walk the trail, a December classic in Hampstead Heath. In 2023, the light trail was remodelled with a contemporary twist. Multi-award-winning creative director Katherine Jewkes collaborated with light art pioneers Luminism to create an immersive and interactive experience adding a whole new look with 13 brand new installations. Specially designed for the occasion and spread across the original Christmas trail, the installations brought the historic building of Kenwood House to light.

  • Magical snowflake projections on the magnificent English Heritage mansion.
  • An array of festive food with warming cocktails and charming stalls serving mulled wine and bratwurst in the courtyard.
  • Enchanting soundscapes that bring to life the rainbow woodland where you can spot glowing woodland animals.
  • An immersive tunnel of light perfect for taking the ultimate festive selfie.
  • Kenwood House is the perfect viewpoint to see London at night as the mansion is located at the top of Hampstead Heath.

It wouldn't be Christmas in London without a visit to Christmas at Kew. Explore the Royal Botanic Gardens at night and walk among the phenomenal light installations spread across the grounds. Or head to the London Wetland Centre, a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Explore the protected woodland, which is lit up at night with installations celebrating the animals that call the wetlands home.
