What is Winter Palace at Hampton Court Palace?
Brand new for 2026, Winter Palace at Hampton Court Palace is an immersive self-guided experience that transports visitors to a spellbinding land of everlasting Christmas, where a captivating tale of mischief and wonder unfolds throughout the historic palace.
From snow panthers to unicorns, guests will encounter a host of curious creatures, including one particularly enchanting sleeping dragon. The palace's historic rooms and courtyards have been transformed into a wondrous winter realm through large-scale displays, projections, sound and lighting, live performances and exciting puppetry.
Each space has been given its own festive theme, inviting families to explore, play and become part of the story as it unfolds.
What to expect at Winter Palace
Step into the Winter Palace in the glowing halls of Hampton Court Palace, where a gathering of extraordinary creatures awaits to welcome you to The Christmas Beast Ball. Meet the Panther known as the Lord of Revels, who ensures the celebrations continue to sparkle, and discover the Winter Phoenix, which brings colour and light to the festivities.
The self-guided experience is designed to be enjoyed at your own pace, making it suitable for visitors of all ages, although young children should be accompanied by an adult. With no set route, you're free to wander through the palace, discovering performances, storytelling and magical moments as you explore.
As well as Winter Palace, visitors can enjoy even more festive experiences at Hampton Court Palace, including ice skating and the annual Festive Fayre.
How long is the Winter Palace experience?
Visitors should allow at least two hours to experience Winter Palace, with extra time recommended if you'd also like to explore the palace and gardens.

How to get there:
- Train: Hampton Court railway station is approximately a five-minute walk from the palace. Services run directly from London Waterloo and take around 30 minutes.
- Bus: Several bus routes from nearby Richmond and Kingston stop close to the palace.
- Tube: There is no London Underground station at Hampton Court.
