The Hummingbird Bakery is opening its fifth London-based branch in Islington this month. The new shop is situated in the Stirling Prize-nominated Angel Building on St John Street. Like the other branches (in Notting Hill, South Kensington, Soho and Spitalfields), the Angel shop will continue the Hummingbird practice of baking all products on site the same day they're sold, "to ensure freshness and quality." Doors open at 11am on 27 January and, in celebration, the bakery will be giving away free cupcakes to the first 1000 customers who walk through the door.
