About

Don’t miss the world premiere of rock icon Peter Townshend’s Quadrophenia, a Mod Ballet at Sadler’s Wells this summer, showing in a strictly limited two-and-a-half week run.

Prepare to be transported back to 1960s Britain in this captivating tale of the mods and the rockers. Expect showstopping dance and electrifying rock music courtesy of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

What is Quadrophenia at Sadler’s Wells about?

This June, a dynamic dance production inspired by The Who’s 1973 multi-million selling album, Quadrophenia, transfers to the stage at London’s Sadler’s Wells. The Mod Ballet extravaganza showcases the album’s era-defining songs while revisiting the compelling narrative of the cult 1979 film.

The story follows troubled mod Jimmy Cooper (Paris Fitzpatrick) and his stylish gang, as they clash with their rivals, the Rockers in 1960s Britain. Exploring themes of rebellion and social upheaval, the show highlights that these topics are just as prevalent in 2025.

Audiences can expect exhilarating dance and music as one of the UK’s most iconic rock albums is brought to the stage for the first time.

Peter Townshend – rock legend and singer-songwriter of the iconic British band The Who – is the creative force behind Quadrophenia. The orchestral version of the hit album has been brought to life by Rachel Fuller and recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to soundtrack this production.

Who is in the cast of Quadrophenia?

Paris Fitzpatrick (Romeo + Juliet) takes centre stage in the role of Jimmy, accompanied by Dan Baines (Balletboyz) as Ace Face. The role of Steph (also known as Mod Girl) is shared by Serena McCall (Message in a Bottle) and Taela Yeomans-Brown (Wicked).

Choreographer Paul Roberts and director Rob Ashford bring Peter Townshend’s story to life. Eye-popping costumes have been designed by renowned British fashion designer Paul Smith and Natalie Pryce, while set design is courtesy of Christopher Oram.
