London's Greenwich will be a major area for Olympics events.
Read our guide to the sites in Greenwich, in South-East London, that will be used for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, below.
The list includes a range of existing, temporary and newly constructed venues.
The O2 Arena / North Greenwich Arena 1
The O2 "bubble", as it's affectionately known, seats 20,000 and is a popular London venue in its own right. It will be called North Greenwich Arena 1 during the Games and will host Gymnastics, Basketball (finals) and Wheelchair Basketball.
North Greenwich Arena 2
North Greenwich Arena 2 is a new, 6,000-seat venue located next to The O2 at the tip of the Greenwich peninsula opposite the mouth of the River Lee. North Greenwich Arena 2 will feature the Badminton, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Volleyball events during the games. Afterwards, the venue will be relocated to provide a legacy facility elsewhere in the UK.
Greenwich Park

A World Heritage Site and historic playground of Henry VIII, Greenwich Park will host Equestrian, Paralympic Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon events. A cross-country course and main arena for 23,000 spectators will be constructed in the park for the duration of the games and removed afterwards.
The Royal Artillery Barracks
This historic building complex, dating back to 1776, provides a fitting venue for the Olympic and Paralympic Shooting events. Located on the edge of Woolwich Common in South East London, close to Greenwich Park, the Royal Artillery Barracks accommodates 7,500 spectators.
