During the London 2012 Olympics, the Aquatics Centre hosted the swimming, diving, water polo, synchronised swimming, paralympic swimming and the swim leg of the modern pentathlon.
Following the Games, the Zaha Hadid-designed building re-opened to the public in March 2014 as a swimming centre for the local community and visitors, who can make use of the two 50m pools and learn to dive in the 25m diving pool.
Other facilities at the centre include a range of classes, a fully equipped gym, crèche and café. It also continues to host a number of national and international sporting events.

I couldn't ask or dream for a better local pool. The opening times are very generous and if you skip rush hour, it's actually pretty relaxed. It's not uncommon for me to go and have a lane to myself or just with one other. The competition pool is generally always get up for lane swimming, in 50m configuration, except Sunday afternoons when it's used instead for aqua splash. It's one of... more
The swimming pool itself is great, most of the time quiet, you can choose your line depending on how fast you want to swim so that you don't get disturb by other people while swimming. The changing space however is really poor for this kind of aquatics centre - you can really tell you're just meant to come, quickly change, swim and leave. Really fantastic facilities, a wonderful addition to the area and really reasonable prices to use them. You can be a swimming member for less than £30 a month and there are two pools. The competition pool is 50m long and 2m deep the whole way, so you wont find people messing about - you have to be able to swim constantly for two lengths to be able to use it. They also offer lessons in diving... more
