About

Following its sold-out run at the Menier Chocolate Factory in 2024, the stage adaptation of Mel Brooks’ cult film The Producers returns to the West End this autumn.

This feel-good classic took home 12 Tony Awards for its Broadway run in the early 2000s and was later made into a comedy film starring Will Ferrell, Uma Thurman and Matthew Broderick.

What is The Producers at the Garrick Theatre about?

The highly anticipated London revival of the hit 1967 film The Producers takes to the stage at the historic Garrick Theatre this autumn. The West End musical features an expert cast including Andy Nyman (Fiddler on the Roof, Hello, Dolly!) as Max Bialystock and Marc Antolin (Matilda the Musical, I Wish You Well) as Leo Bloom.

The show follows the same story as the cult film, tracing the life of struggling theatre producer Max and timid accountant Leo, who draw up a plan to get rich by overselling interests in a Broadway show that’s destined to fail. However, to their surprise, their master plan faces complications when the show unexpectedly becomes a hit. Expect hilarious moments and classic songs from the original production such as “Springtime for Hitler” and “I Wanna Be a Producer”.

The Producers first premiered on Broadway at the St James Theatre in 2001, where it ran until 2007 and earned a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards. The Producers made its West End debut in 2004, receiving three Olivier Awards.

Who is in the cast of The Producers?

Alongside Andy Nyman and Marc Antolin, the powerhouse cast features Harry Morrison (Crazy For You) as Franz Liebkind, Joanna Woodward (The Time Traveller’s Wife) as Ulla, Trevor Ashley (Les Misérables) as Roger de Bris and Raj Ghatak (Life of Pi) as Carmen Ghia.

The creative team is led by Tony Award-winner director Patrick Marber (Leopoldstadt), who is joined by Broadway choreographer Lorin Latarro (Mrs Doubtfire), renowned set designer Scott Pask (The Book of Mormon), and acclaimed costume designer Paul Farnsworth (Follies). Musical director Matthew Samer (Fiddler on the Roof) collaborates with orchestrators Larry Blank and Mark Cumberland to bring the scores to life.
