About

Don't miss the West End debut of multi-award-winning actress Christine Baranski, starring alongside stage and screen legend Richard E. Grant, in Hay Fever at Wyndham’s Theatre this autumn.

Secure your tickets to see this new adaptation of Noël Coward’s irresistibly witty comedy, this time directed by the illustrious Emily Burns.

What is Hay Fever about?

Set in an English country house in the 1920s, Hay Fever tells the story of the charmingly eccentric Bliss family and their outlandish behaviour when they each invite a guest to spend the weekend.

Judith, the mother, is a retired stage actress who misses the spotlight and invites a young admirer. Unbeknownst to anyone else, her novelist husband David, and their two grown-up children, Simon and Sorel, have also all invited guests for the weekend.

Drama, witty bantering and arguments ensue. Confused by the ill-mannered behaviour of their hosts, how will the guests react and will the Bliss family even notice?

Why you should see Hay Fever at Wyndham's Theatre

Celebrated playwright, actor and composer Noël Coward wrote Hay Fever in 1924. The play was inspired by a visit to New York, where Coward stayed with the flamboyant playwright, Hartley Manners, and his wife, the actress Laurette Taylor.

Hay Fever debuted at the Ambassador Theatre in London in 1925 to tremendous success. More than a century on, it’s back on the London stage, starring two legendary actors and featuring all the dry wit and comedy of (very bad) manners it’s famous for.

Don’t miss it and get your tickets now, as it’s only showing from 22 September to 12 December 2026.

Who is in the cast?

Multi-award-winning actress Christine Baranski (The Gilded Age, The Good Wife, The Good Fight) is making her West End debut as Judith Bliss.

She’s joined on stage by Academy Award-nominated stage and screen legend Richard E. Grant (Withnail & I, Can You Ever Forgive Me?, The Importance of Being Earnest) in the role of David Bliss.

The rest of the Hay Fever cast is yet to be announced.
