Producer Chunsoo Shin has announced the initial casting for The Great Gatsby musical, which lands in London’s West End on 11 April.
Fresh off the back of renowned Broadway success, the Tony Award-winning musical – based on the F Scott Fitzgerald novel and Leonardo DiCaprio-fronted hit film – prepares for its West End debut at The London Coliseum.
Set to lead the grand spectacle is Jamie Muscato (Moulin Rouge!, Les Misérables, Once), taking on the role of mystifying millionaire Jay Gatsby, while Frances Mayli McCann (Bonnie and Clyde, Death Note: The Musical, Heathers: The Musical) stars as Gatsby’s love interest, Daisy Buchanan.
The pair joins a spectacular cast in a story of extravagance and longing that follows self-made millionaire Jay Gatsby in his quest for the American Dream – and his desire to return to the arms of his former love, who lives across the bay.
The highly-anticipated musical also promises glitzy sets and a number of jazz and pop crossover hits.
Chunsoo Shin, the lead producer of The Great Gatsby musical, said: “We are absolutely delighted to announce our two lead actors for The Great Gatsby. Jamie and Frances’ extraordinary talent and undeniable chemistry are perfect for this iconic story, capturing all the glamour, passion, and intrigue of the Roaring Twenties.
“We cannot wait to welcome West End audiences to experience the dazzling spectacle, rich emotion, and timeless allure of this beloved classic like never before.”
The team is completed by choreographer Dominique Kelley, Tony Award-winning costume designer Linda Cho, Outer Critics Circle Award-winning scenic and projection designer Paul Tate de Poo III and Grammy Award-winning music producer Billy Jay Stein for Strike Audio.
