Can I get a refund at the end of my trip if I don’t use all the credit on my Visitor Oyster card or Oyster card?
As your Visitor Oyster card* never expires, it is recommend that you keep your card for future return visits to London, or lend it to family and friends to use when they come to London.
To get a refund on any unused credit on your card, take it to a Tube station, telephone Transport for London (TfL) or post it to the address below.
Please check the balance on your card at a Tube station or Oyster Ticket Stop before you leave London, as you cannot do this from home.
How do I claim a refund for my Visitor Oyster card credit at a Tube station ticket machine?
At a London Underground ticket machine, you can get a refund of up to £10 pay-as-you-go credit.
Simply touch your Oyster card on the yellow card reader on the ticket machine, select "Oyster refund" and follow the on-screen instructions. You can see the refunded amount due on the screen before finalising your request.
Please note that if you only have pay-as-you-go credit on your Oyster card and get a refund, you won't be able to use your Oyster card again. Make sure you no longer need it before you request a refund.
Refunds are paid back in cash dispensed from the ticket machine.
If you have more than £10 pay-as-you-go credit or a valid season ticket on your Oyster card, you can't get a refund at the ticket machine and have to request a refund by telephone or post.
