How many hours do you need at Windsor Castle?

It is recommended that you allow yourself at least two hours to see Windsor Castle to make the most of your visit.

On arrival there are airport-style security checks so it is advised to take as little belongings as possible to get through screening quickly. 

When visiting during the high season you may find that certain areas, such as Queen Mary's Dolls' House, may require queuing for entry. 

Is there a dress code for Windsor Castle?

There is no dress code for visiting Windsor Castle however, it is recommended to wear comfortable clothing with light layers and flat shoes.

Visitors may carry handbags and use pacemakers, hearing aids and other items needed for health reasons. However, certain items are permitted on the grounds but must be checked in at the cloakroom when touring the State Apartments. These include large bags that can fit through scanners, long umbrellas, and pushchairs and buggies.
