About

Explore Cumbria’s gorgeous Lake District region on an escorted overnight trip from London, including return rail travel, stunning scenery and fun activities.

Train to the Lake District

Head to Euston Station to get an early train to the beautiful UNESCO-listed Lake District region. After a little under three hours, step off the train and set off on your escorted tour with a professional guide.

Day one in the Lake District

For the first day of your overnight trip package to the Lake District, you can pick between two themed itineraries: the Beatrix Potter Tour or the Best of the Lake District Tour.

Beatrix Potter Tour

A large castle like building sitting on top of a lush green field in the Lake District on a clear sunny day with blue sky and children playing in the foreground.

Learn about the history of the Lake District as you drive along the shores of one of its most scenic spots, Lake Windermere, stopping off at Wray Castle if time allows.

On the Beatrix Potter tour, you’ll get to see the landscapes that inspired the author and visit her former homes, including Hill Top Farm and Tarn Hows.

Next, stroll through the charming villages of Coniston and Hawkshead, both steeped in history and literary connections.

Best of the Lake District Tour

A field of purple flowers with the Lake District's Langdale Pikes mountains in the background.

See astounding scenery while delving into the rich history and culture of the area, with the Best of the Lake District Tour.

Start off in Windermere and admire the gorgeous views from Langdale Pikes as you drive through the Langdale Valley. More spectacular vistas await at Blea Tarn, a hidden gem which you’ll get a chance to spot while travelling through the gorgeous Yewdale Valley.

Last but not least, explore two quaint villages, Coniston and Hawkshead, before enjoying a cruise on Lake Windermere.

Both itineraries include cream tea at Lindeth Howe, Beatrix Potter’s family home in Bowness. Treat yourself to delicious tea and scones with fresh clotted cream and jam.

Complete your first day in the Lake District with an overnight stay in a three-star hotel.

Day two in the Lake District

Sailboats on Lake Windermere with mountains and trees in the background, on a cloudy and sunny day.

On the second day, the Lake District is yours to explore further at your own pace, before catching a late-afternoon train back to London.

Why not hire a bike and ride through the pretty scenery, take a sightseeing tour of the lakes or hire a kayak and explore the water for yourself!
