About
From magnificent lakes to quaint villages, explore Cumbria's beautiful Lake District on a day trip from London, including return rail travel, a professional local guide, a Lake Windermere cruise and traditional cream tea.
Train to the Lake District
Head to Euston Station to get an early train to one of the most stunning locations in the UK. In just under three hours you'll arrive at Oxenholme in the heart of the UNESCO-listed Lake District National Park, where a professional local guide will be waiting to begin your adventure.
Explore the Lake District
Venture into the idyllic Cumbrian countryside and discover one of the UK's most beautiful regions. Throughout the day, your guide will share fascinating stories about the Lake District's history, culture and literary heritage as you travel between its picturesque villages and breathtaking landscapes.
Scenic Lake District tour
Travel through the spectacular landscapes of the Lake District National Park, following in the footsteps of Beatrix Potter as you visit Hill Top, the beautifully preserved 17th-century farmhouse where she lived and found inspiration for many of her famous stories. On selected dates when Hill Top is closed, the tour visits the World of Beatrix Potter instead.
Continue to Tarn Hows, one of the Lake District's most photographed beauty spots, before enjoying a scenic cruise across Lake Windermere, England's largest lake. Along the way, admire dramatic mountain scenery, peaceful islands and charming lakeside villages.
The tour also visits the picturesque village of Coniston before finishing in the medieval village of Hawkshead. Wander its cobbled traffic-free streets, browse traditional stone cottages and cosy tearooms, and discover its literary connections to both William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter.
If time allows, there may also be a stop at Wray Castle, the mock-Gothic castle overlooking Lake Windermere where Beatrix Potter once holidayed.
Cream tea experience
Round off your day with a traditional cream tea at Lindeth Howe, the charming country house once owned by Beatrix Potter. Relax with homemade fruit scones served with clotted cream and jam, accompanied by your choice of tea or coffee, before your guide escorts you back to Oxenholme Station for your return train journey to London.
