Saw "Winter's Tale" performed here. The theatre, based upon designs from the original "Blackfrier's" theatre, is beautiful. Lit only with candles (from chandeliers and sconses), the intimate, lightly lit theatre was exceptional, perfect for the play. more
This is by far the most atmospheric theatre in London. Candle-lit, with timber everywhere, it is an amazing playhouse. Every production in specially selected to match the theatre's ambient - it is a must to sit here to get that unique feeling if you want to consider yourself a serious theatre-goer. more
I went to see the candle-lit performance of L'Ormindo at this very atmospheric theatre. Candles create the intimate and romantic atmosphere, but the seats are so small and hard, spoiling the fun. The stage is small and side seats have restricted view. I hope they would do something about the seating. more
