Formerly St James’ Restaurant, the Georgian-style tea salon was opened by Queen Elizabeth II and members of the Royal Family in 2012.

What’s on the afternoon tea menu?

The afternoon tea at Fortnum & Mason features a choice of finger sandwiches with fillings including coronation chicken and egg mayonnaise; warm scones with clotted cream, strawberry preserve and clotted cream; and a selection of freshly baked cakes, including a slice of Battenberg, which Fortnum’s have been serving since 1926.

Wash it all down with a pot of Fortnum’s famous tea, or pay extra for a glass of bubbly. Other refreshing drinks on offer include jugs of homemade lemonade and iced tea.

Also on the menu is a sweet-free savoury afternoon tea and a nourishing High Tea, featuring a choice of hot dishes instead of sandwiches, such as scotch eggs, beef Wellington, eggs Benedict, and lobster omelette. There’s also a children’s menu if you have little ones in tow.
