About

Enjoy breathtaking views of London and zip down the world’s longest and tallest tunnel slide at Zip World London’s ArcelorMittal Orbit in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

A modern-day London icon, the twisting red sculpture of the ArcelorMittal Orbit gives views of up to 20 miles (32km) across London from its viewing platforms and includes a thrilling ride on the world's tallest and longest tunnel slide, the Orbit slide known as Helix.

What is the Orbit slide at ArcelorMittal Orbit?

The Orbit slide, also known as Helix, at Zip World London's ArcelorMittal Orbit is a hair-raising experience that’s not for the faint-hearted!

Made up of 12 twists and turns, including a tight corkscrew named the bettfeder (meaning “bedspring” in German), it ends in a thrilling 50 metre (164ft) straight run to the ground.

It's the biggest slide in London and the tallest and longest in the world.

History of the ArcelorMittal Orbit

The idea for the ArcelorMittal Orbit at Zip World London was born out of a conversation between the then Mayor of London, Boris Johnson and Lakshmi Mittal from the steel company ArcelorMittal.

Boris Johnson and Olympic Minister Tessa Jowell wanted to create a special landmark to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Artist Anish Kapoor and architect Cecil Balmond designed the ArcelorMittal Orbit, which opened in 2012.

The Orbit tunnel slide, known as Helix, that intertwines with the sculpture, was added later and completed in 2016.

How tall is the Orbit slide?

Helix is 76 metres (250ft) high, making it the world’s tallest tunnel slide. At 178 metres (584ft) in length, it’s also the longest!

How fast is the slide?

Whizz down the slide at speeds of up to 15 miles (24km) per hour.

How long does it take to go down the Orbit slide?

It takes approximately 34 seconds to zip down the Orbit slide.

What is the age, height and weight limit for the Orbit slide?

The minimum age to experience the Orbit slide is 8 years old, with a minimum height requirement of 130cm. The maximum weight allowed is 130kg.

Adult supervision for anyone aged under 18 is also required.
