Poppies kind of confuses me. I get that it's meant to be the most tourist-friendly place to consistently serve delicious fish and chips in London, but the retro 1950s decor goes right over my head. This is not like fish and chips in the U.S. more emphasis on the fish and less on the batter. I tried both the Cod and Haddock. Similar I'm taste in my opinion. Preferred the Haddock.

Very good. Worth the trip out of the way. more

A very touristy place to eat yet the staff were so friendly. There was a 10 min wait to get seated and the host assured me ever so often I'd be seated... more

Went to Poppie's during our East End Food Tour last week and it did NOT disappoint! I've only ever had fish & chips in the US and I've never felt like it was "right". Poppie's gave us a small sample and it was amazing. The batter was perfectly light and crispy and it actually stuck to the cod! Usually, every fish & chips I've had, the batter was too thick and it fell off the fish, which is a... more
