About

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical Evita returns to the West End this summer at the London Palladium, reimagined by award-winning director Jamie Lloyd.

Experience the unforgettable journey of Eva Perón, a woman who defied all odds, rising from poverty to become the most influential figure in South America.

This limited 12-week revival promises to captivate theatre enthusiasts, marking another groundbreaking collaboration between theatre giants Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jamie Lloyd, following the huge success of Sunset Boulevard last year.

What is Evita the musical about?

Step into a world where power and passion are everything, as Eva Perón rises from humble beginnings to become one of South America’s most influential figures.

The youngest of five children, Eva chased her dream of becoming an actress, eventually moving to Buenos Aires, Argentina’s bustling capital. She caught the eye of Juan Perón, marrying him and stepping into a prominent political role as First Lady. Eva wasn’t just a figurehead – she used her position to advocate for the working class, founded the Eva Perón Foundation, and fiercely fought for women's right to vote, even establishing Argentina's first large-scale female political party.

Eva’s legacy is one of fierce passion and relentless determination. She became an icon of social justice, championing the poor and marginalised through the Peronist movement – a political force that continues to shape Argentina today.

Why you should see Evita

With timeless classics like “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina”, “Oh What a Circus”, “Another Suitcase in Another Hall”, and the Oscar-winning “You Must Love Me”, this musical is packed with unforgettable tunes. Directed by Jamie Lloyd, the revival brings Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s iconic collaboration back to life, bursting with energy and emotion.

More than just a hit musical, Evita is a cultural phenomenon. Eva Perón’s rise to power, her ambition, and lasting legacy remain as compelling as ever, making this a must-see whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering it for the first time.

Rachel Zegler makes her long-awaited London West End debut in the lead role of Eva Perón, with other cast members yet to be announced.

Evita, a success story

Evita was first released as a rock opera concept album in 1976 before making its way to the West End in 1978, where it won the Olivier Award for Best Musical. The following year, it transferred to Broadway, achieving roaring success and becoming the first British musical to win the Tony Award for Best Musical.

The show returned to London in 2006, followed by a nationwide tour in 2013 before a run at the Dominion Theatre in 2014. In 2019, Jamie Lloyd’s bold new production at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre earned an Olivier Award nomination for Best Musical Revival.
