About
Clueless The Musical, the new stage adaptation of the iconic 90s film, is set to make its highly anticipated West End debut this February at the Trafalgar Theatre.
Fans are buzzing with excitement as this beloved story steps out of the States for its first run on London’s West End.
Loosely inspired by Jane Austen's 1815 novel Emma, Clueless offers a fun and modern twist on the classic tale, blending sharp wit, lively music, and all the nostalgia that made the original film a cultural phenomenon.
What is Clueless The Musical about?
Clueless The Musical follows Cher Horowitz, the ultra-popular queen bee of Beverly Hills High, whose passion for matchmaking often leads to more complications than romance. When Cher takes the socially awkward new girl Tai under her wing, she gives her a glamorous makeover and tries to pair her with the school’s most handsome guy.
But as Cher's attempts at playing Cupid unfold, she begins to realise that her obsession with appearances and helping others might be masking her own insecurities and loneliness. As her world of designer clothes and high-school hierarchies begins to unravel, Cher embarks on a journey of self-discovery – learning that there's more to life than fashion and social status.
The musical adaptation of Clueless is written by Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed the beloved 1995 American teen comedy film. The cult classic returns with a fresh spin in the London West End, following its off-Broadway debut in 2018.
The West End production is directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, with music by multi-platinum singer-songwriter KT Tunstall and lyrics by Grammy Award-winner and three-time Tony nominee Glenn Slater (Sister Act the Musical, Tangled). Fans can expect a fun-filled trip down memory lane, with all the wit and fashion that made the original film a hit.
