Free Sports Events at the London 2012 Games

If you didn't get tickets for the London 2012 Games, you can still see some of the world's top athletes in action this summer.

A number of Olympic and Paralympic events are free to watch, including Road Cycling, Triathlon, Marathon and Race Walking.

London's streets will be lined with fans cheering on their favourite sporting heroes. Don't miss these fantastic free events in London!

London 2012 Olympic Games: Road Cycling

The road cycling event brings together some of the world's best on two-wheels. The gruelling Road Race starts at The Mall , heading south west through the city. The Time Trial, beginning and ending at Hampton Court Palace, is a fight against the clock with the quickest sprinter crowned Olympic champion. 28 Jul-1 Aug

London 2012 Olympic Games: Race Walk

Part of the London 2012 Athletics programme, the Race Walk takes place on the streets of Central London, finishing at The Mall. Competitions include a men's and women's 20k race, and a men's 50k race. The rules dictate that one foot must remain on the ground at all times as competitors speed-walk along the route. 4, 11 Aug

London 2012 Olympic Games: Triathlon

Watch as athletes compete in a gruelling triathlon schedule, which includes swimming, cycling and running – all in the stunning surrounds of London's Hyde Park. The competition is made up of a 1,500m swim, 40k cycle ride and a 10k run – with every second crucial to the competitors' chances of gaining gold. 4, 7 Aug

London 2012 Olympic Games: Marathon

The Olympic Marathon will pass landmarks such as the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral, Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square. Unlike the London Marathon, the Olympic Marathon only has around 80 competitors. Come and cheer on the world's top marathon runners as they compete in London. 5, 12 Aug

London 2012 Olympic Games: Swimming Marathon

The world's best marathon swimmers will take to the Serpentine in Hyde Park this summer to compete in the Olympic 10k Marathon Swim. They will complete six laps of the lake, giving you a chance to see two hours of competitive swimming, usually with a dramatic sprint finish. The south side of the lake will be open to spectators without tickets. 9-10 Aug

London 2012 Paralympic Games: Marathon

Watch Paralympic athletes compete on London's streets in the London 2012 Paralympic Marathon. The Paralympic Marathon is part of the London 2012 Paralympic Athletics programme. Some athletes compete in wheelchairs or throwing frames, others with prostheses or with the guidance of a sighted companion. 9 Sep
