To accompany the Chinese New Year celebrations in Chinatown and Trafalgar Square, many London restaurants are offering special Chinese menus and activities to welcome in the Year of the Dragon. You can learn to make dim sum at Ping Pong, enjoy the Chinese cuisine at Malaysian restaurant Awana, or sample dishes combining Thai spices and Chinese herbs at Mango Tree.

Café Le Cordon Bleu

Top cookery school Le Cordon Bleu is about to open its first café in London. Set in a secluded courtyard behind Bloomsbury Square, close to the British Museum, Café Le Cordon Bleu will sell a selection of cakes and pastries made by Le Cordon Bleu Master Chefs. There'll also be a concise lunch menu featuring sandwiches, soups, quiches, salads and croque monsieur or madame.

The Oyster Shed

The Oyster Shed, a new venue from Geronimo Inns, is set to open next week in the City of London. Specialising in seafood and British dishes, the pub will also offer a good selection of champagnes, local ales, stouts, whiskeys, wines and cocktails. If you fancy a light bite, order one of the Bar Boards, platters of bar snacks such as cheese straws, fish fingers, and mini Yorkshire puddings with roast beef.

Léon De Bruxelles Comes to London

One of Belgium's oldest restaurants, Chez Léon, is opening a new outlet in London. Léon De Bruxelles will serve 11 types of mussel dishes, along with hearty Flemish cuisine, Belgian beer and Belgian waffles. Belgian afternoon tea will launch later this year. Entrepreneur Léon Vanlanker first opened Chez Léon in Rue Des Bouchers in the heart of Brussels in 1893.

Aubaine Opens in Mayfair

French bistro Aubaine has just opened a new branch on Dover Street in Mayfair. Locals and visitors to the upmarket area can now enjoy Aubaine's patisserie, viennoiserie, cakes and desserts, alongside a range of breakfasts and Mediterranean dishes. There's also a private screening room and "Aubaine to Go" – boxes of bijoux treats to take away – will launch this summer.

Obikà Mozzarella Bar Opens in Canary Wharf

Italian mozzarella specialist Obikà has launched a new restaurant in Canary Wharf, serving top quality Italian mozzarella alongside artisan products such as prosciutto crudo di Parma, bresaola della Valtellina (cured beef) and Forman's smoked salmon. There's also a range of freshly baked pizzas and a takeaway counter selling sandwiches, salads and pastries. In the evening, you can enjoy Italian aperitivo and wines.

Comptoir Libanais Comes to South Kensington

Comptoir Libanais brings a taste of the Middle East to London's museum quarter, with a menu of mezzes, moussakas and other Middle Eastern delights. Del'Aziz has opened its sixth London restaurant in Clapham.
