A stay at Brown’s Hotel isn’t complete without a meal at Charlie’s. Head Chef Adam Byatt has created a delectable menu with British, Italian and Spanish influences serving dishes like tuna ceviche, braised ox cheeks, Dover sole and gnocchi.
Afternoon tea is served in The Drawing Room, a tradition that has been part of the establishment since it opened. Served daily between 12pm and 6.30pm inside an elegant lounge, it’s best to book in advance. The menu includes classic sandwiches, cakes, scones, pastries and more than 20 types of tea. The fantastic service is so highly regarded that even Queen Victoria is believed to have enjoyed tea at the hotel.
In the evenings, head to the intimate Donovan Bar. A chic and smart drinking den, the interiors are inspired by the work of 1960s photographer Sir Terence Donovan. Look out for his prints on display. The cocktail menu is curated by one of the world’s leading bartenders Salvatore Calabrese.
