Discover the fascinating history of Markfield Beam Engine & Museum, a family-friendly attraction in Tottenham.

Head to this riverside park location and learn about the industrial heritage of this former sewage treatment works. The centrepiece of the museum is a working steam-powered engine, commissioned in July 1888 and housed in a grade II-listed engine hall.

Activity sheets are designed to involve and inspire younger visitors and there’s also a child-friendly area with toys and tools. Volunteers lead free guided tours on most days which are bookable on arrival.

The museum is free to visit. Check the museum website for opening times and details of steaming days.

Usually open on the second and fourth Sundays of the month, with Steaming Days on most bank holiday Mondays.

10am to 3.30pm. Steaming Days: 10am to 4pm
