What is there to see at The King's Gallery?

Dedicated to works of art from the Royal Collection, The King's Gallery was constructed in 1962 at Buckingham Palace, out of the bomb-damaged ruins of a chapel destroyed in an air raid in 1940. The innovative and modern art gallery is one of the most significant additions to Buckingham Palace in 150 years.

In addition to gems from the Royal Collection, there's a changing programme of temporary exhibitions, featuring old master paintings, rare furniture, decorative arts and images from the photograph collection.

The current exhibition showing at The King's Gallery is Royal Portraits: A Century of Photography. An exciting showcase of how portraiture has played a vital role in shaping the public's perception of the Royal Family over the last 100 years.

The unique collection charts the evolution of royal portrait photography from the 1920s to the present day, demonstrating how the Royals harnessed the power of photography to project grandeur and tradition on the monarchy.

The exhibition is running from 17 May 2024 until 6 October 2024 and entry is included in the cost of a standard ticket to the gallery.

If you are arriving by coach, Victoria Coach Station is a 10-minute walk away. Several buses also stop nearby the gallery.
