Hodge the Cat

Cat lovers will adore the bronze statue of Dr. Johnson's favourite cat, Hodge.
About
Cat lovers will adore this bronze statue of Dr. Johnson's favourite cat, Hodge.
The statue shows Hodge perched on top of lexicographer Dr. Johnson's famous dictionary, next to a pair of empty oyster shells (Johnson indulged his cats by feeding them oysters).
Inscribed with the words "a very fine cat indeed", the statue can be found outside the house where the cat lived with Johnson and his manservant and heir, Barber. The house is now a museum dedicated to Johnson's life called Dr. Johnson's House. At the museum, visitors can see a copy of Johnson's first dictionary.
