About
Pay a summer visit to Shirley Windmill in Croydon, one of the last windmills to be built in the UK.
The Windmill is a Tower Mill, built of brick, 54ft (17 metres) high and has five floors.
Step inside and learn about the history and workings from the models and displays on the ground floor. Further floors showcase the original machinery along with two sets of millstones. At the top, see the Dust Floor, where wind power was transformed into power to drive the machinery.
Take a guided tour when the windmill is open, usually the first Sunday of the month between June and October, along with other selected days listed on Shirley Windmill’s website
