After a sold-out national tour, Miss Saigon is finally making its much-awaited return to the London West End at the Prince Edward Theatre, much to the delight of theatregoers.

Cameron Mackintosh presents a spectacular new production of the legendary musical, returning to the London stage more than a decade after its last West End revival. Reimagined for a new generation, Miss Saigon takes audiences back to the final days of the Vietnam War for a powerful story of love, loss and survival.

What is Miss Saigon about?

Set during the final days of the Vietnam War, Miss Saigon follows 17-year-old Kim, a young Vietnamese woman who is forced to work at Dreamland, a Saigon bar run by the notorious character known as The Engineer. There, she meets Chris, an American GI, and the two quickly fall head over heels in love. But their romance is heartbreakingly cut short when the fall of Saigon separates them, leaving Kim to face the aftermath of the war alone.

Three years later, Kim finds herself living in poverty in Bangkok, raising her young son Tam and still hoping for Chris to return. Determined to give her son a better life, Kim travels to Bangkok with Tam in the hope of eventually making her way to America and reuniting with Chris, who is unaware that he has a son.

What follows is a tragic and emotional story of love, heartbreak, sacrifice and self-discovery, as Kim does everything she can to give Tam the future she dreams of for him.

What to expect from Miss Saigon in London

Miss Saigon is based on Puccini's 1904 opera Madama Butterfly and was adapted for the musical theatre stage by the creators of Les Misérables, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil. The show first premiered in London in 1989 before opening on Broadway, touring around the world and returning to the London stage in 2014. The musical has won two Olivier Awards and three Tony Awards and remains an all-time audience favourite.

Miss Saigon has been hailed as one of musical theatre's most powerful love stories, captivating millions of theatregoers with its heartbreaking story of love and survival. More than 35 years after it first premiered in London, the story remains a beloved musical, combining a deeply emotional love story with one of history's most talked-about conflicts.

The musical score plays a big part in bringing the story to life, capturing the atmosphere of Saigon during the final days of the war, as well as the desperation of those caught up in it. Alongside the heartbreaking story, audiences can expect some of the show's most recognisable songs, including The Heat Is On in Saigon, The Movie in My Mind, Last Night of the World and The American Dream.

Who is in the cast?

This new West End production of Miss Saigon is presented by Cameron Mackintosh in association with Michael Harrison.

The recent UK tour starred Julianne Pundan as Kim in her groundbreaking stage debut, with Dominic Hartley-Harris as John and Jack Kane as GI Chris. 

The Miss Saigon London cast is yet to be confirmed.

Miss Saigon is playing at the Prince Edward Theatre on Old Compton Street in Soho.

• Tube – The nearest stations are Tottenham Court Road (Elizabeth, Northern and Central lines) and Leicester Square (Northern and Piccadilly lines). 
• Bus –  You can catch the following buses which stop nearby at Cambridge Circus: 14, 19, 24, 29, 38, 176, N5, N19, N20, N29, N38, N41 and N279. 
• Cycling – Hire a Santander Cycles bike and head to Moor Street in Soho, where you can find the nearest Santander Cycles dock. 

When is Miss Saigon on in London? 

Miss Saigon performances are taking place Mondays to Saturdays at 7.30pm, with matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2.30pm.
