About
Brace yourself for seven weeks of festive chaos at London’s Wyndham's Theatre as A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong makes its much-anticipated return to the West End!
The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society – completely undeterred by their past disasters – are back, brimming with chaos as they take on one of Britain’s most treasured theatre classics: Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
Brought to life by Mischief Theatre, this Christmas comedy is packed with slapstick mishaps and unexpected twists.
What is A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong?
Mischief Theatre is back with another Goes Wrong extravaganza, this time with a festive twist! If you’re familiar with Mischief’s signature brand of chaos, you know what to expect – missed cues, out-of-control props and actors desperately trying to keep the show from falling apart (and failing spectacularly).
Fresh from celebrating 10 years in the West End with The Play That Goes Wrong, Mischief Theatre is bringing back A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, written by original Mischief members and producers Henry Lewis, Henry Shields and Jonathan Sayer.
This time, the Cornley amateur dramatic society attempts to stage Charles Dickens’ beloved Christmas classic, with their usual mix of disasters and misfortunes. First introduced as a Christmas special on BBC One in 2017, this hilarious production lands on the West End, promising a night of festive mayhem, slapstick surprises and plenty of mischief at Christmas.
What is the plot of A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong?
The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society is aiming to pull off their best performance yet with their own take on Ebenezer Scrooge’s Christmas story – but can they break free from their chaotic ways and avoid the usual mayhem?
The tech crew is clearly struggling with miscommunication, leading to delayed sets, missing actors, and a growing feud over who will play the lead role. What unfolds is a production on the verge of disaster, likely to become one of the most memorable (for all the wrong reasons) Christmas shows in history. Prepare for an evening of laughs, mishaps and a lot of unexpected surprises!
Highlights of this Mischief Christmas comedy
A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, the newest production by Mischief Theatre, is set to be packed with the trademark slapstick comedy and cleverly staged disasters the Cornley crew is known for. You can count on the usual mix of technical hiccups, cast disputes and an escalating mess that only they could pull off.
While the London West End has seen endless takes on the classic A Christmas Carol, a Mischief production is always a promise of refreshing approach – packed with laugh-out-loud moments, spiralling chaos and a completely unexpected spin on a holiday favourite. One thing’s for sure: this won’t be your typical Christmas show, but it’s definitely one you won’t forget!
