Watch the captivating experience unfold and discover life-sized recreations of prehistoric environments as you explore deserts, soaring skies and the deep sea. Along the way, encounter a vast array of dinosaur species including Ammonites and Mosasaurs, as well as the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Nestled in the creative hub of King’s Cross, Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs at Lightroom is dino-mite for curious minds of all ages – and I bet it’s unlike anything you’ve seen before!

What are the highlights of Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs?
From the moment I approached Lightroom’s striking exterior, I knew I was in for something special. The building itself feels like a portal to another world. Wander inside, and you’re instantly transported to a prehistoric landscape, thanks to a jaw-dropping 360-degree visual display that surrounds you from floor to ceiling.
Immersive visuals
The visuals are nothing short of spectacular, with high-definition graphics that bring prehistoric creatures to life. Every scale, feather and ripple in the water is rendered in stunning detail, making you feel like you're part of the scene.
The newly hatched baby Isisaurus descending on their dramatic journey through the dangerous erupting volcano to avoid predators was one of my favourite scenes – I was watching through my fingers at one point in fear for the baby dinosaurs!
Editor’s tip: Keep an eye out for one fun feature where dinosaurs are compared in size to modern-day objects – like a London bus. The visuals encourage you to stand beside the wall and snap photos, really putting the dinosaur’s size into perspective!

Educational and engaging
The narration is packed with fascinating facts, blending scientific insight with cinematic flair. It’s the kind of experience that keeps your eyes moving and your mind engaged, encouraging you to explore every corner of the room. I’m no dino-expert, but it was impossible not to be drawn in.
I learnt that the T-Rex was the Apex predator of the dinosaur world, due to its formidable physical attributes and ecological dominance. I was in awe of the fact that T-Rex’s could exert a force of 3,000 pounds or more with one strong bite.
Relaxed viewing atmosphere
The space is cleverly designed to suit all visitors. Whether you choose to sit on tiered benches, lounge on floor cushions or watch from the raised mezzanine, you’re free to move around to watch the captivating experience from whatever angle you choose.
The space is easy to navigate, and the freedom to move around adds to the immersive feel. I watched the show from the raised mezzanine, standing dead centre so it was easy to look around the room and see all the interactive elements moving on the walls and floors.

Perfect for curious minds
Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs is ideal for people of all ages, and would be great for families, school groups and budding palaeontologists!
It strikes the perfect balance of informational sections and gripping graphics for the older audience and interactive, moving features on the floor to entertain the younger audience.
With interactive visuals, a relaxed viewing setup and engaging narration, it’s the ultimate immersive exhibition to visit.
