Valuable resource of information concerning the history and culture of black people of African descent who, at one time or another, have been based in Britain. Facilities include various exhibitions on diverse aspects of black culture, a library that houses various publications and an archive with artefacts, documents and materials attesting to the black presence in Britain.

Normal opening hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 - 18:00, Sunday-Monday closed

Late opening until 19:00 every second Thursday of the month

Reading room is open Wednesday-Friday 10:00 - 16:00pm, and 13:00 - 19:00 on late opening Thursdays (as above)

Open for library browsing (no archive access) Saturday 13:00 - 16:00
