Fashion and Textile Museum
About
The Fashion and Textile Museum is a pioneering centre of contemporary fashion, textiles and jewellery, founded in 2003 by British design icon Dame Zandra Rhodes as a space to champion creativity and showcase British fashion design.
Today, it presents a vibrant programme of varied, engaging exhibitions alongside an inspiring mix of courses, talks, events and hands‑on workshops.
In place of a permanent collection, the museum offers a dynamic rotation of temporary exhibitions celebrating innovative fashion and textiles from designers and makers around the world.
Since 2007, it has been operated by Newham College, one of Europe’s largest further education colleges, broadening its mission and staging more than 30 major exhibitions featuring leading British and international artists, designers and brands.
Located in lively Bermondsey Village, the museum sits within a striking orange‑and‑pink building designed by renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta. The distinctive space also houses residential flats and Dame Zandra Rhodes’ design studio, making it a true creative hub of discovery and learning.
Check out the in-house programme for workshops and courses.
