Emma Cunniffe's London

Emma Cunniffe is a British TV and stage actress, who made her name in the 1997 series The Lakes.

Emma's also starred in Great Expectations, All the King's Men, Clocking Off, and Flesh and Blood with Christopher Eccleston.

Her theatre work includes Tales from Hollywood, Losing Louis at the Trafalgar Studios, Women Beware Women for the Royal Shakespeare Company, and Dumb Show at the Rose Theatre in Kingston. In 1999, she won the Barclays Theatre Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in The Master Builder.

She's most recently played Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. Here are her top London tips.

A: The Narnia Premiere

Q: What's the best play, gig, comedy act you've been to in London recently? 

A: Jerusalem [The Royal Court's hit 2009 show, starring Mark Rylance, which transferred to the Apollo Theatre, and ran until April 2010]

Q: What's your favourite London icon (person, building, thing etc)? 

A: Battersea Power Station and St Paul's Cathedral

Q: Where do you think's the most romantic place in London? 

A: St. James Park and Richmond Park

Q: What's your favourite shop in London? 

A: Selfridges and Liberty.

Q: What are your top tips for visitors? 

A: Walk all along the South Bank and visit Spitalfields Market

Q: What's your favourite hidden gem in London? 

A: The Wallace Collection

Q: What's the strangest thing you've ever seen in London? 

A: A lady in a fairy costume on the 4th plinth in Trafalgar Square. [Anthony Gormley's One & Other]

Q: If you were Mayor for the day what would you do? 

A: Make it free to travel anywhere on public transport!

Q: If you were invisible for the day where would you go?

A: Buckingham Palace

Q: What do you think "makes" a Londoner? 

A: Open mindedness, hopefully!

Q: If you could go back to any period in London's history when would it be? 

A: 1950s

Q: If you could take one piece from a London museum /gallery, what would it be? 

A: Something from the Grace Kelly collection currently at the V&A.

A: The variety of cultural events!
