Trader Vic's
About Trader Vic's
Trader Vic's has been a swinging place since the seventies, decked out as a Tahitian beach hut right on Park Lane, with flower-print waitresses plying willing clientele with the best Mai Tai's ever mixed. This is the right place for relaxed business lunches, informal dinner, or romantic meals at any time. Check out the live lobster tank before you tuck into Island cuisine. Try the cosmo tidbits to start, while you sip your drinks, then move on to Creole fish soup, or mains of Indonesian rack of lamb from the Chinese wood-fired oven, served with grilled pineapple and peanut sauce, or wok-fried Szechuan butterfly prawns. There's a serious wine list and very brisk service.

Traders Vic's, Mayfair. Booked 50% off deal. Was given 'offer' menu which has one vegetarian dish, one chicken dish and one fish dish. So as you can imagine choice was limited but the food we chose was quite satisfactory - the restaurant itself was quiet when we attended but it was a Monday so understandable.
Our dinner at Trader Vic's was good. Chicken salad to start fine but nothing amazing, coconut curry was beautifully presented in a coconut shell and was delicious. Tasting plaste of pudding was very nice and generous portion. Cocktails amazing, service fine. Love it for the traditional feel to it and the decor; its a London instiution!
Trader Vis's in Mayfair was a nice quirky themed restaraunt and by doing the ste menu the value was amazing. I would definately go here over other high priced london places to eat.
dined at Trader Vics the other night with 2 friends and it was the top table deal so menu was a bit limited. would agree that the croquettes were not exactly mind blowing + the pork stew was ok. pudding was enjoyable and the cocktails were great. ambience is a bit stuff - i expected it to be a bit more exotic and buzzy. bit like a hotel bar which isn't suprisisng as it's part of the Hilton! staff were pleasant but wouldnt like it on a summers evening as it's in the basement and a bit gloomy
our party of 6 had a transport nightmare getting to trader vics for our booking, very late but we were determined as it was a birthday celebration. Trader vics were good in finding us a table although they would not let us take advantage of the top table offer. we had to order from the a la carte / bar menu which very expensive. Service was also poor, we waited over 20 mins after sitting to order drinks and a free waiter would not help because it was another waiter's table. Food good as usual.
