Mall Galleries
About Mall Galleries
Exhibitions by a number of art societies throughout the year of contemporary art, mainly by British artists in traditional media. Most exhibitions have an admission charge and most work is for sale. Work ranges from watercolours to oil paints and subjects from portraits to wildlife. The gallery is available to hire for exhibitions or events, and a picture commissioning service is available throughout the year.

For 2012 PRISM presents a collection of thought-provoking and expressive artworks that respond to the exhibition title ‘Hidden Places, Hidden Spaces’. This established textile art group continues to challenge the concepts of stitch and textiles using innovative materials and methods, while also referencing the traditional in some exquisitely stitched pieces.

Louise Giblin: Body Casting Olympians at Mall Galleries

The ‘Olympian Series’ sculptures were produced by body casting World Champion gymnast Beth Tweddle MBE, Kriss Akabusi MBE, Dame Kelly Holmes, Sally Gunnel OBE and 6'7'' Paralympian swimmer Darren Leach. The detailed surfaces relate to past Olympic, Paralympic and World Championship triumphs. Sculptures and drawings from Giblin’s ‘Meta-Human Series’ will also be on display.

Love Pastels 2012 at Mall Galleries

Alongside the rich colour of the pastel paintings displayed in the Pastel Society’s 112th annual exhibition, there will be an equally robust collection of works using other dry media: charcoal, conté, oil pastels, graphite and coloured pencils. The huge variety of styles and techniques displayed throughout the exhibition will inspire with their versatility and energy.
