Croydon might not be the first place you think of when you're visiting London, but it has lots to offer visitors including great shopping and vibrant nightlife.

Croydon – A Perfect Base

Croydon has excellent transport links, making it a perfect base for visiting London or for trips to the south coast.

There are three main train stations: East Croydon, South Croydon, and West Croydon. A 20-minute train ride will get you to either Gatwick Airport or London Victoria, and Brighton's a mere 50 minutes away.

Croydon's also the hub of the excellent South London Tram network, giving you access to Wimbledon, or Bromley.

Shopping in Croydon

You're spoilt for choice when it comes to shops in Croydon and all your favourite high street chains are there. Plus, Croydon town centre is pedestrianised, so shoppers don't have to dodge traffic.

There's The Whitgift, a huge shopping centre with over 140 stores, including Boots and Marks & Spencer.

Just across the road, there's another smaller shopping centre, Centrale, with over 60 stores.

The High Street is home to even more Croydon shops! And for food shopping, head to Surrey Street Market where you can pick up delicious fresh fruit and vegetables.

Croydon's shops are open 7 days a week so you'll always be able to get your retail fix!

Croydon Entertainment

If you fancy a bit of cultural Croydon try the David Lean Cinema which shows Art House films or take a look at the Croydon Museum which tells the story of Croydon's history.

Croydon is known for its nightlife and the many pubs and bars on the High Street offer ample opportunity for a big night out. Tiger Tiger, All Bar One and Yates's Wine Lodge are just a few of the local bars.

Beyond Croydon Town Centre

To the south and east of Croydon, there are some beautiful green spaces.

Happy Valley offers spectacular views of Farthing Downs and is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the town centre. 

Park Hill is just five minutes walk from East Croydon Station and was once a home to roaming deer. It now offers 15 acres of green space in Croydon, including ornamental gardens, tennis courts and a children's playground.
