Overview
The newly refurbished Fox and Grapes has the feel of a country village pub, despite its southwest London location - right on the edge of the Common in Wimbledon. The Fox and Grapes has reopened with Claude Bosi, head chef of the two Michelin starred Hibiscus in Mayfair, and his brother Cedric at the helm. Two French brothers opening a village pub serving traditional British food may sound incongruous, but they insist the local pub is the British equivalent of the French bistro – with a welcoming atmosphere and good food. As for the food, the aim is to use as much seasonal and local produce as possible, and simple, high quality cooking. The menu features hearty dishes with classic flavour combinations like crispy pork belly with stuffed apples and Herefordshire cider, as well as traditional pub favourites like sausages and mash. Open for drinks throughout the day, Fox and Grapes stocks a wide selection of beers and ales, some of them even brewed in London.

Um.....is there another way to say, "over-rated"?
Service - a nightmare. The woman who waited on our table looked at me square in the eyes and continued on her little walk to the kitchen. It took ages to order anything and then ages still to get the bill.
Decor - a brightly lit pub. No more creativity than that.
Food - I had the tagliatelle with Cod. A terrible combination. Also tried...more
Stumbled across this gastropub while on a walk in Wimbledon Common. It's an excellent genuine British country pub. The food is upscale but worth it, while the atmosphere is friendly and homey. It seemed to be populated by a good crowd of Authentic Local Characters, who made the whole experience more enjoyable.
My sole complaint is that there was only one vegetarian option on the menu, which...more
