Eid in the Square
September
Eid in the Square takes place on 26 September 2009. These Eid celebrations in Trafalgar Square are organised by the Muslim Council of Great Britain and the Mayor of London. They feature live entertainment, exhibitions and a street bazaar. Check the Mayor's website for details.
London Turkish and Kurdish Film Festivals
December
The Turkish and Kurdish Film Festivals are held annually in December at the Rio Cinema in Dalston. The festivals showcase the best new features, documentaries and shorts – accompanied by some of the people who have made them.
Newroz: Kurdish New Year
March
A week long celebration of the Kurdish New Year – supported by the Mayor's Office – culminates in a colourful all-day festival in Finsbury Park. Check the Mayor's website for details.

Aziziye Mosque

One of the oldest surviving Turkish mosques in London, this spacious venue, with domes and oriental features on its frontage, dates back to the early 1880s.
Süleymaniye Mosque
212-216 Kingsland Road, E2 8AX (020 7684 9900).
One of London's newest mosques the building features tasteful quasi-Ottoman architecture, notably traditional iznik tilework in wall niches.
