Turkish Eating and Drinking

Londoners love Turkish restaurants because they represent some of the best-value meals you'll find in the capital. There's no compromise on quality either. Here are some of our favourites.

Beyti

113 Green Lanes, N16 9DA
Tel: +44 (0)20 7704 3165
Manor House Tube
Specialising in northern Anatolian cooking, this no-frills eatery serves very fresh dishes with wonderfully hot own-baked bread.

Iznik

19 Highbury Park, N5 1QJ
Tel: +44 (0)20 7354 5697
Highbury & Islington Tube/rail
Named after the city of Iznik (famous for its ceramic tilework during the Ottoman era), this fabulously friendly restaurant, with blue patterned tiles, burnished orange walls, and carved wooden screens, is crammed with dozens of flickering candles and lamps. The sophisticated menu proves that there's more to Turkish food than kebabs and grills.

Mangal Ocakbasi

This authentic venue is legendary for the exquisite quality of its grills and kebabs, served with beautifully warm pide bread and fresh salad. Portions are generous, and Mangal Ocakbasi is always busy.

With its fashionably distressed yellow walls and black-uniformed staff, this trendy Islington venue serves excellent food. Pasha also has a good selection of Turkish and European wines. Turkish and other global tunes liven up the proceedings.

Özer

Özer promises a buzzy atmosphere and a great selection of Turkish (and other) wines at a Central London location.

Sariyer Balik

56 Green Lanes, N16 9NH
Fresh fish dominates the menu at this local favourite. Dishes at Sariyer Balik are simple, but well-prepared and flavoursome. Those in the know keep coming back for more...

Tas

A small restaurant chain, serving fantastic Turkish food. The diverse options include set menus with numerous tasty dishes to share, plus hearty grills with couscous.
