London’s many European communities are spread around all corners of the city, but there are pockets where you can experience different aspects of European culture at first hand.
For a Portuguese flavour head south for the Stockwell and South Lambeth Roads. Here you’ll find a community that congregates in the area’s many cafes, bars and restaurants making for a great atmosphere, especially in the summer when the crowds spill out onto the pavements.
Golborne Road in West London is also home to a large Portuguese and Portuguese-speaking community.
For a taste of modern Italian and French London head to Soho where Italian delis and coffee bars sit side by side with French patisseries and restaurants. South Kensington, home to the French Institut and Ciné Lumière, is a little bit of France in London.
For a Spanish flavour, head to Portobello Road where Spanish restaurants are a firm feature of London’s continental culinary scene wherever you go.
