Eric Soul presents Afrogroove

From 8pm. Admission free.
Fortnightly at the Ritzy Cinema on Wednesdays, Afrogroove is a fusion of DJs and live acts from across the continent.

African Vibes

From 9pm. Admission free.
African Vibes at Viva Viva features African bands and DJ sets every 2nd Thursday of the month.

Africa Day (May)

The United Nations, UNESCO and the London Business School, amongst others, mark Africa Day. It is the one day that's officially observed by all African nations and the African embassies and high commissions in London with receptions and lectures open to all.

African Village @ Rise: London United

Organised by the Mayor of London, the annual RISE festival is London's largest free music festival celebrating diversity and supporting anti-racism. The African Village at RISE showcases the cultural vibrancy of London's African communities through music, arts, culture, film, dance and food. See the Mayor's website for more details. 

BFM International Film Festival (Sept)

Black Film Magazine's annual film festival comes with a line up of films from the US, the Caribbean and Africa. Hip hop, reggae and aspects of Afro-Brazilian culture are all covered and the week-long event includes awards, seminars and workshops and post-screening Q&As with filmmakers. Black History Month

Supported by the Mayor's office, Black History Season is a key event in London's cultural calendar. There are literally hundreds of events going on all over town in October and beyond, covering everything from film and talks to exhibitions, performances and children's events. Gathering of Africa's Best Awards

An annual awards ceremony acknowledging the achievements of Africans in London. See the Gathering of Africa's Best website for more information.

London African Music Festival (May)

This 2-week festival takes place at the South Bank Centre each May bringing an eclectic mix of African performers to the Royal Festival Hall. See the Joyfulnoise Music website for details.
