Christophers American Grill

About Christophers American Grill

Situated in a Grade II listed Victorian building, this Covent Garden restaurant and martini bar is something of a London institution. Christopher’s restaurant is housed in a stunning building; Victorian features such as the high moulded ceilings have been preserved, and tall windows in the dining room offer views over Waterloo Bridge. Décor is elegant - rich deep colours are complemented by soft, subtle lighting and starched white linen. The food here is best described as modern American. Steaks are the star of the show and the grill section of the menu features a tempting range of American steak and lobster dishes. The menu at Christopher’s is extensive, though, and there are plenty of choices for diners who don’t fancy steak, including iconic American dishes like Maryland crab cakes, Missouri rubbed roast lamb, tobacco onions and pecan maple tart. The weekend brunch menu, too, is huge - pancakes here sound like the perfect way to start a Saturday.

Brunch menu only on a Saturday so choice was limited. We shared a starter, mushrooms and onions on bread - sweet but very tasty. We both opted for the ribeye, mine with eggs. The steak was very thin, good but not much of a punch. Boston beans as a side order - good if not unusual - is that licorice, molasses? Service in the main was excellent from Csabo, his colleagues a little less so.

We had dinner at Christopher's on a Saturday night post theatre. Good cocktails before downstairs. Good selection of food and prompt service. Will recommend to anyone. Was especially romantic with the snow falling outside.

My partner and I chose Christopher’s in Covent Garden for a romantic dinner out. The food was delicious and well presented and the service was brilliant. There was however, a rather lengthy wait between courses and we did feel that the atmosphere was more suited to business or group meals.

Christophers, Covent Garden. the staff didn't know the menus a fishcake without a hash brown, we had to point it out. Dessert totally different to the menu becasue they had just changed it and the chef hadn't realised, again we had to point this out. having said this both errors were rectified. potions small but very good. Toilets - FREEZING and main restaurant not that warm.
