Veeraswamy
About Veeraswamy
Veeraswamy is London’s oldest Indian restaurant, satisfying curry cravings since 1926. Conveniently located on London’s Regent Street, just a hop, skip and jump from Piccadilly Circus, the narrow entrance opens up to reveal a huge dining room. Befitting its status as the grand old dame of London restaurants, Veeraswamy is dressed to impress, with ornate chandeliers, colourful hanging lamps and exotic Indian turbans and carpets decorating the high-ceilinged space. Like its sister restaurants, Chutney Mary and Amaya, the raison d’etre at Veeraswamy is to provide a fine dining take on regional Indian cuisine. The menu changes regularly, though you can expect to find a range of traditional Indian dishes, like rogan josh, an aromatic lamb and saffron curry from Kashmir, or tandoori red snapper. They’ve also trawled coastal regions for seafood specialities like flash grilled oyster kebabs, or the Malabar lobster curry with turmeric and green mango.

As an Indian origin person and a foodie/cook myself, Veeraswamy remains one of my favourite restaurants in London. It's a great place to take friends and colleagues for whom Indian food has only ever meant their local take-away. This way they get the best of real Indian food and hospitable staff.
Excellent night and excellent food
Food, ambience and service all lived up to our high expectations! We had the tasting menu, everything was creative and very tasty. The only thing is that we weren't impressed by the naan bread, it's slightly dry and tasted overcooked.
Excellent restaurant - service was perfect, food was very good, and the table disposition was great - intimate without. The wine selection was also quite good - I don't usually drink wine with Indian food, but in that case the wine matching was great. Highly recommended!
Veeraswamy was great with a good selection of veggie food, would definitely go back again
