About Veeraswamy

Britain's oldest Indian restaurant - a romantic story of East meets West - created by the grandson of an English General and a Mughal Princess. The rendezvous for rich, famous and fashionable lovers of Indian food. The sophisticated food includes classical dishes from aristocratic homes of several regions. Spice mixes are ground daily and individually for each recipe. The newly transformed interior evokes the luxury and sumptuousness of Royal India in the 1920s. The glamorous private room seats 36. There are lightly spiced dishes for lunch plus good value fixed price lunch and pre and post theatre menus.

Toptable says about Veeraswamy

In the heart of the West End on Regent Street, Veeraswamy has been satisfying Londoners' love of curry since 1927. The restaurant was set up by Lord Palmer and now belongs to Namita Panjabi of Chutney Mary and Masala Zone fame. She has brought a fresh broom to this classic restaurant, keeping its heritage but adding notes of modern elegance. Out go the colonial references and in come vibrant Indian colours and bold authentic dishes.

Tasty food! a little bit spicy for me, but very well cooked. Nice staff. Great interior. I would recommend this place for a romantic evening out.

My first Visit to Veeraswamy and i would definately visit again! The food was delicious - i highly recommend the crap kebabs and prawn starter. The service was great, staff are polite and attentive without being too overbearing! A bit pricey when you first look at the bill but after eating the food, i'm sure you will agree, it is worth it!

Veeraswamy gave me a glimpse of what it must have been like to live like a king in India. Outstanding

Veeraswamy

For a Michelin star restaurant - this meal really did not live up to my expectations. The food was rather bland ( even for someone who does not like spicy food), and there was nothing exceptional in the service. Normally for a michelin star restaurant, I expected some "amuse bouche" or "miniardise" pre-desert and there werent any. Even the indian masala chai was milky, and tasteless.
