Overview

One of Hampstead’s favourite pub-restaurants, The Holly Bush is tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac away from prying eyes. Once the stables belonging to the home of painter George Romney, The Holly Bush was converted in to a tavern in the early 1800s and much of the original character remains to this day. It’s the original panelled walls, high backed booths and imposing curved bar which gives The Holly Bush such character and comfort while the juxtaposition of the rather more glam dining room with its chandeliers, eau de nil upholstered mid-century style furnishings and luxuriously patterned wallpaper gives the pub a wider appeal. Classic but sophisticated British favourites and comfort food make up a menu which perfectly complements the setting. The Holly Bush also welcomes children.

Lovely pub, great atmosphere and unusually for London speedy and friendly service. However, £5 for a pint of ordinary lager is unfortunately taking the living p*ss.more

My dad & sister really set the bar high for Sunday roasts, so I knew I probably wasn't going to come away declaring this was the best ever. However, I was excited to have roast beef, as that's my favourite but in my house we normally have lamb (not that I'm bitter about that. Although I am).

We got there early and had no problem getting a table, albeit in a somewhat unattractive back room. We...more

Good food, lots of tasty options. And in a pretty fantastic neighborhood. I would have given it 5 stars except the service was awful. The bartender seemed annoyed that I would even ask her for a menu - and I finally had to find the table that was reserved for my party on my own, seat ourselves, and then "interrupt" her again to let her know we'd been "seated." It was a good thing I was there...more

After an hour long walk in the Heath it was lunch time. My trusty Yelp app let me know that Holly Bush wasn't too far and off my friend and I went. When we arrived there was no one but the pub staff there. I was afraid it was closed but we were assured it wasn't. Soon after arriving the lunch crowd started pouring in.

I ordered a Pimms to drink and it was beeeautiful. Full of delicious fruit...more

All I can say is: yes yes yes. Go here.

This is a spectacular place. I was lucky enough to stumble across it in my wanderings in the Hampstead area, and if I could have, I would have moved in. Great little bar with lots of small rooms all around. Pretty inexpensive and with a great atmosphere. Their desserts are also spectacular (I particularly enjoyed the Eton Mess). I would definitely...more
