What is The Book of Mormon musical about?
The Book of Mormon is a satirical musical telling the story of two young Mormon missionaries who travel to Uganda in Africa to preach the Mormon religion, only to discover they have a lot more to learn about the real world than they have to teach about Mormonism.
Follow the journey of Elder Price and Elder Cunningham as they naively try to convert the locals, who are more worried about war, famine, poverty and AIDS than religion. Elder Price is a rising star in his church and a shining example for Mormons around him, whereas Elder Cunningham’s awkward personality and inability to see “God’s plan” makes their journey a little more chaotic.
While the missionaries are concerned that they can’t convert their new neighbours to Mormonism, the locals are doing all that they can to survive in a war-torn country. When it’s all becoming too much and they are almost defeated, they stumble upon a local young woman named Nabulungi, who believes everything that Elder Cunningham preaches and dreams of a simpler life... can they convert the locals to Mormonism after all?
