  • Assassins at Pleasance Theatre Islington

    Drama

    20 Mar 2012 to 8 Apr 2012

From the production company behind the hugely successful, sell-out Just Another Love Story (Battersea Barge, November 2011) and the critically acclaimed, sell-out fortieth anniversary productions of Follies and Company (Pleasance Theatre, June 2011 and December 2010) comes this seminal Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman masterpiece, for a limited three week engagement at the Pleasance Main House. Over twenty years on from the original Broadway and London productions, this multi-award winning musical explores and America where some grow up to become a President, and others are left in the shadows, their fate destined towards murderous intentions. A twisted celebration of what it means to be an American citizen, Assassins brings to life the men and women who have attempted or succeeded in assassinatin American Presidents, from Lincoln to Ronald Reagan, and asks what made them believe that murder might be the only option to settle a variety of obscure motives. Directed once again by Ray Rackham, with musical direction by Joe Bunker, and brand-new orchestral arrangements by David Keefe, this production will evoke a dark, vaudeville sentiment, and is not suitable for the under 10s.
