Had a very nice meal at Ascot's (just off Oxford Street, London). The menu choices were varied, service was excellent, food very tasty. However, the restaurant was very dark and we had specifically asked for a light table and mentioned that one member of our party was night blind. They put the lights on so we could read the menus but couldn't wait to turn them down again. The only light we had blew, and we had to eat by torchlight. The toilets were also out of order (had to use a hotel room
I usually would avoid places like this (in Radison hotel) but I thought as the booking was made I should suck it up and give it a try. The atmosphere was tragically bland- completely without personality or time-zone.View out the window onto a brick wall. However what kept us in our seats was the service that was fabulous. The food was good too and before long it was midnight and time to go.Would go back for lunch if shopping on Oxford St and needed a civilised sit down away from the crowds.
Ascot's Restaurant and Bar - went for a fairly early meal on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was lovely but empty, so lacking any kind of atmosphere. However, the service was friendly and attentive. The food was very nice and value for money - a two course set menue was priced at £19.50.
A special meal at Ascot's on St. Patrick's Day went down very well. The restaurant was very quiet with only a few other people there. The service was very good and we were well looked after during the evening. Both our main courses were nice and hot and the wine was reasonably priced by the glass. I would recommend.
What a pleasant surprise to find this tranquil hidden gem just off the madness of Oxford street.I booked through top table after a long day shopping.Had a cocktail in the beautiful bar. It was a very pleasurable experience,Such a breadth of fresh air to receive such genuine warm and welcoming service.Ascots lighting and ambiance had a club feel to it.The food was delicous. The pollock was so fresh and The service was unobtrusive ,warm an efficient..I will go again
