Legoland shame about the queing
Just been to Legoland with the grandchildren, glad we got cheap tickets, thought the park was very good especially for younger children although we did have to queue for ages, but the fireworks display was wonderful, my only gripe would be that we had to wait two hours to get out of the car park in traffic, why don't they make two entrances and exits to these places? Would have made it more pleasureable after a long day.
Overprice, Overcrowded, Over-rated, Carnie-owned Lego fair
I have always loved Legos, my family loves Legos, we were sooo looking forward to this, with our family of 7 who loves theme parks and roller coasters but alas it is not even owned by Lego any more. and It shows! lines were all 1-2 hours long, and the rides were lame!! my family enjoyed our local wild wave park better. Local village fairs in Swindon, had better rides and value (yes I know scary). the mini-land (Lego Museum) was cool but you could tell it was built from times past. we spent more on admission than major theme parks, big let down! lame, lame, lame! Like swimming in a urine filled kiddy pool, expecting to swim in an olympic sized swim park :) save your money, it is better in your mind :D
It is owned by the merlin's pass people do not be sucked in, waste of money.
Hell made out of Lego Bricks
We went to Legoland Windsor this weekend, expecting a great day out and we were bitterly disappointed. Full priced entrance for 1 day for two adults and two children is a sickening £117.00. We managed to utilise vouchers (something which a lot of other families seemed to be doing) though even with our discount we felt short-changed. We managed to get onto TWO rides, (Laser Raiders and Pirate Falls) and queueing for over 3 hours in total for the privilege.
Food was expensive and Legoland's purpose seemed solely to be to extract more money out of parents. We didn't stay for the Firework display as seating was limited. Legoland are soon to be charging 'customers' to park their car. I hope this proposal rebounds on them and people start boycotting this horrendous place.
get there early
We stayed in Windsor (Langton House B&B) and caught the bus 191 from the hospital at 8.57 to arrive at Legoland early (the official shuttle bus doesn't leave Windsor till 10am). It was a stiff walk from the staff entrance bus stop up to the main entrance, but well worth it, as we were there early (they actually were letting people in at 9.30, even if some rides hadn't yet opened) and by 10.30am we'd been on The Dragon, Pirate Falls, Laser Raiders and Viking River Splash. The queues did get ridiculous later in the day, but we then enjoyed the other attractions like the show, the maze, Rat trap play area, and of course the fabulous Miniland. It was a drizzly morning, so we were glad we'd taken plastic bags to put on wet seats, and worn our waterproofs. My advice would be to get your children to look at the website in advance and pick the rides they really want to go on, and when you get to the park, head straight for those and beat the queues.... then just forget the rides and enjoy the Lego. We had a great time, and think the Lego models are fantastic. Look out for the Dr Who dalek on the side of the Canary Wharf building in Mini Land - that made our son's day when he spotted it!
We had a brilliant weekend!
Surprised at the previous reviews and to be honest were not sure what to expect but went as friends had recommended we go. We booked through Legoland website for a 2 night break with 2 day entry into Legoland. At £210.00 for a family of 4, we think was a good deal. Hotel at Heathrow faultless. Loads to do in park so you definitely need 2 days. We had a great time. We got there at 9.30 am each day (opens at 10.00 am) and would advise that you try and go on all the big rides first to avoid queues-best ones to get on early are the Viking River Splash; Dragon; Jungle Coaster; Extreme Team and Pirate falls rides. Miniland is great too. Very clean. We took a picnic for each day. Our children aged 8 and 10 absolutely loved everything on the park. A great weekend away!
